Emphatic Eccentricia: a Humble Prim contest for Caledons 5th

Events should be listed on one of the Steamlands Community Calendars, in one of the Community Forums, or in the Event Listings Forum. The suggestions by Her Grace, Duchess Gabrielle Riel (as originally posted in the Caledon Forums), are still good guidelines for event listings to this day.

Emphatic Eccentricia: a Humble Prim contest for Caledons 5th

Postby Veleda Lorakeet » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:47 am

To commemorate Caledons 5th anniversary the monthly creative contest from Emphatic Eccentricia will be dedicated to Caledon, and will be held in Emphatic Eccentricia - CAledon in Tamrannoch.

Total price money is 1000 L$ with a winner price of 500 L$

The challenge is simple. Show what a single prim can be. What we call a humble prim contest).

A single prim? What can you make of it? What can it be? We will explore this in our monthly contest for Februari 2011, this month specially held at Caledon to commemorate Caledon's 5th anniversary that weekend.

Use one prim to make something stunning. Show up at Emphatic Eccentricia - Caledon http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Tamrannoch/150/127/23On Saturday Februarui 27th 11:00 AM SLT to show your build (if you like) to make sure you have a day left to do final tinkerings and be sure your prim is valid.
The final judging will be on Sunday Februari 28th 11:00 SLT also at Emphatic Eccentricia - Caledon.

The contest prim can be retrieved at the welcome area of Emphatic Eccentricia from the Contest Prim delivery system. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Viana%20Tropicana%20Breeze/159/222/26

Of course on demand contest prims can be handed out by me (or by anyone in posession of one).

Or from our Caledon location where the contest is held.

Total price money is L$ 1000, with a main price of L$ 500.

Show the world prims can be what you make of them!

This time I really haven't got the faintest Idea what will end up being made.

The sheer endlessness of possibilities make you realize how much is possible with very limited resources. Even with 1 prim the possibilities are endless. I wish I could enter myself :-)

Miss Lorakeet,

I assume sculpty prims are not permitted. Am I correct?

No you are not correct. Anything goes as long as it is made from the contest prim handed out by me, or by a humble prim dispenser (one underneath the robot in Caledon Tamrannoch and one on the welcome area of Emphatic Eccentricia at Viana Tropicana Breeze.

So if you turn it into a sculpty it is ok, if you give it a obnoxious personality (like I have seen some cold Oxbridge professor do), or turn it into a melting block of butter in a frying pan, everything is allowed. (Allthough I can imagine people coming up with all new concepts of anything....so I prefer people to show up on saturday)

The concept of this competition was born from a Piggybank prim I made for a tipjar... So I expect sculpties to be there. Maybe there will be animations, prim animations, media (ever saw a prim show 10 different movies at once?) Anything a prim can be. And maybe even what a prim can not be :-)

I have been creating the environment for the contest to be held, which consists of a giant steampunk UFO at an altitude of 300 meter, and a skybox with a stage for every prim entered into the competition. (They will all be stacked at altitudes of 500m and up to fit within the guidlines of the Caledon Convenant.)

The Interior of the skybox for prims can be adjusted to best suit the specific prim displayed in it. (The skyboxes are 10m high, but can be extended to 20 if need be.)

Today I will start putting up the skyboxes, so humble prims are welcome from today onward.

As of now it seems there will be around 10 prims entered, but there is ample room for many more.

Yes the presence of scultpies is confirmed. The first prim has been placed already by Professor Sauce Sorrowman. It appears to be a sculpted object of modest proportions. He was in the proces of redecorating the skybox (the lowest one) which displays the fruit of his labour.

For someone of your build and stature I would presume the time of us mostly biggies would seem leasurely to you. A mistaken view point on my side? Or a very ambitious rodent on your side :-)

Ahem. I would just like to point out that Oxbridge professors are in all respects warm and lovely people, and we do not give our prims complexes, neuroses, or personality defects. (Much.)
